ABC Radio has just expanded its coverage into the Central West Slopes on New South Wales.


News Radio can now be heard on 106.3FM offering a 24 hour news and current affairs service. The network also broadcasts from Federal Parliament during sitting times.


The addition of News Radio now means the Central West has five ABC services broadcasting between Coonabarabran and Dubbo, speading out to Gulgong, Warren and Coonamble.


News Radio is a service designed for occasional visits so you can get your dose of National or International news. You might only tune in for 15 minutes a day and then return to your regular station whether that be ABC Western Plains, Classic FM, Triple J or Radio National.


The network is planning to take News Radio to around 70 new locations Australia wide.



This week News Radio celebrated the latest expansion with a small function at the ABC studios in Dubbo.
A group of 20 local government representatives and busienss people heard ABC State Executive Mike McCluskey explain the ABC's future plans in terms of the digital age while News Radio's John Barron talked about his role on the station. He encouraging people to give News Radio a go and provide feedback on what they like and what might be done to improve the service.

News Radio broadcasts on 106.3FM from a new transmitter located at Mt Cenn Cruach near Coonabarabran.
