guysebCRA release: The 21st annual Australian Commercial Radio Awards (ACRAs) are shaping up to be great entertainment with Australian performers, Jessica Mauboy, Guy Sebastian and Kisschasy all performing at the event in Sydney next month. As well, international star, Matt Nathanson will perform at this year’s ACRAs, which will be held at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre on Saturday, October 10.

Matt Nathanson, a singer/songwriter, based in San Francisco, is best known in Australia for his hit singles “Car Crash” and “Come On Get Higher” – both taken from his most recent album, “Some Mad Hope”.

Jessica Mauboy has had a number one single this year, “Burn” as has Guy Sebastian, with his most recent single also a number one hit, “Like it Like That”.

Kisschasy, an Australian rock band formed in 2002, has also had considerable career success so far and have released their third album, “Seizures” this year.

The performers will be joined by one of the winners of this year’s New Artists 2 Radio (NA2R) initiative, the commercial radio showcase which aims to identify future music talent.

MC for the night is Australian Idol host, Andrew Gunsberg, who also hosts Australia’s biggest weekly radio countdown, “Take 40 Australia”. Andrew began his career in radio at B105 in Brisbane and then SAFM in Adelaide, before moving to television with Channel V.

Chief executive officer, Commercial Radio Australia, Joan Warner said it was a very strong entertainment line-up this year, highlighting some great Australian talent.

“The radio industry always likes to feature good Australian performers at the ACRAs and this year is no exception and should set the tone for a great night,” Ms Warner said.

A number of radio personalities will present awards, including Hamish and Andy from Austereo, Merrick and Rosso from DMG Radio, Jason Morrison from Macquarie Radio Network, Jonesy and Amanda from Australian Radio Network, Derryn Hinch from Fairfax Radio and the Benchwarmers – Ant and Becks from Macquarie Southern Cross Media (MSCM).

The ACRAs, organised by Commercial Radio Australia on behalf of the radio industry, include 32 categories, which cover all areas of radio broadcasting including news, talk, sport, music and entertainment. The ACRAs differ from television’s Logie Awards, in that they are peer judged with judging panels comprised of industry members.

The ACRAs is a gala event of the radio industry’s calendar, attracting radio personalities and stars from around Australia.
