THE financial calamity and legal woes that have befallen Mike Norris must have seemed unimaginable even four years ago.
Back then, the high-flying Brisbane media and advertising executive planned to raise about $10Â million to fund a new FM radio station on the Sunshine Coast.
He also aimed to re-list his Media Corporation Australia (MCA) after spending $8.2Â million for two new FM licences in southeast Queensland.
Across the industry tributes continue to flow for the much loved Adam Vaughan who sadly lost a brief battle with cancer on the 26th of May. Adam’s passion for radio and music clearly shone through in so much of what he achieved in his life.

UK Sport Station TALKSPORT has certainly turned the corner since a change of ownership and management. The station which was briefly heard overnight in Melbourne via SEN 1116 in 2004 is now managed by Australian Scott Taunton since new owners UTV purchased the station.
The effect of UTV’s changes on profits has been dramatic. In 2004, the last full year of Wireless Group ownership, profits were about £2.2m. In the first six and a half months of UTV’s reign, operating profit reached £4.8m. RELATED ITEM
With the recent resignation of Jodie J Hill from Nova 91.9’s breakfast morning host Lisa Fernandez will move to breakfast. Lisa will join current presenters Julian Schiller, Tony Moclair and Ryan Fitzgerald from the 26th of June. Jodie’s final day is this Friday when the rest of the team will take a two week break.
Further to this item we ran a few days ago, it seems there is plenty more to come to light on this story. The person under investigation seems to have gone from living the high life to from all reports being in financial hot water.
Coffs Harbour youth radio station 2CHY has called in police to investigateÂ
fraud by an employee. Detectives in Coffs Harbour say they are investigating a man they suspect of embezzling a significant amount of the non-profit station’s working capital. He has left Coffs Harbour and gone interstate. Police say their investigations are continuing.Â
Â
At the same time, 2CHY’s board is determined the incident will not be theÂ
death-knell for the station which has been on the air since the early 1970s.Â
The board is working with a number institutions in the city to formulate aÂ
recovery plan and it says there are no plans to shut down operationsÂ

Unwired has extended its existing relationship with Macquarie Radio Network which owns radio stations 2GB 873 and 2CH 1170. Macquarie Radio will provide localised hourly news updates and other broadcast content to Unwired customers in Sydney and Melbourne by the end of June.
In July 2005, Unwired and Macquarie Radio signed a three-year advertising partnership under which Unwired sponsors the Alan Jones Breakfast program. The deal gave Unwired exclusive advertising rights in the Internet services category on the show for an undisclosed multi-million dollar fee to be paid through a combination of Unwired equity and cash over three years. Macquarie Radio received 3.3 million shares in the first year of the deal. ITWIRED
TILLI Clapham has her fingers crossed - she has a meeting with the powers-that-be at Nova 919 today.
The evicted Adelaide Big Brother housemate, who was back in her home town last night for a Rapture nightclub appearance, says the meeting was set up through her BB agent, the Harry M. Miller Group. The 19-year-old former shoe consultant hopes to follow in the footsteps of Adelaide’s Ryan Fitzgerald, who has forged a media career since appearing on the show. “I don’t want to compare myself to (Ryan), but I’d love to get my name out there in Adelaide like him,” Tilli says.
