Sad news with the passing yesterday of Melbourne radio great Peter James. Peter is best remembered for his time at 3AW however he had stints at 3UZ, Magic and 3AK. He is the father of 3AW's Darren James.

The Tenison Woods College student has hit the airwaves with his golden radio tones and has shown other young people what can be achieved through a bit of determination. Bob Longwell, CEO of the Australian Radio Network, has announced his resignation after nine years in the role. He told ARN, which is equally owned by APN News & Media and US group Clear Channel, that he will not renew his contract when it expires at the end of December, opting to return home to the USA. ARN owns the Mix and Classic Hits brands.

Edge FM’s Crafty Technician Ian Crockett has done it again! The little genius has recently installed a brand new panel in the Edge FM studio, proceeded to arrange a special welcoming blast for breaky announcer, Matt Hobbs.
The trap was actually activated by Hobbsy, via the on air mike. The microphone switch had a 12 volt power supply wired to it, designed to trigger 5 different fireworks.

Albury station 2AY have dropped their relay of the 3AW Derryn Hinch drive program. 2AY have opted to extend the afternoon music format hosted by Emily Canning. Emily is now heard from noon through until 6.00pm. Listeners have voiced their opinon on-line via the Border Mail and quite of few of the comments are in favour of 2AY retaining the Hinch program over the music format. Border Mail article here

3MP has a new half hour Sunday morning garden show. Hello Hello It's Chris & Marie's Garden Show invites listeners to call in to chat to the duo from 10.00am. Whispers tells us he was at Chris & Marie's nursery last Sunday morning between 10.00 and 10.30 and all he could hear playing was Gold FM!

ABC television program Media Watch has brought into question the 2day fm breakfast duo Kyle and Jackie O and a recent interview with former Baywatch star Jeremy Jackson. Jackson popped up on the breakfast show to talk about premature ejaculation problems. Media Watch believe it was a paid advertisement, you be the judge visit the entire transcript here. Hardly the stuff that a radio station that plays the sort of music that appeals to school children should even consider talking about.
