Troubles at 2HD and NEWFM?

Media Hunter has a very interesting article on the state of things at 2HD/NEWFM. 2HD is Australia's second oldest commercial station and is steeped in tradition so that for one makes this report rather more alarming.



Media Hunter highlights a number of things (below) that you might say are the norm in regional radio in 2008, however you be the judge and read the full article.

  • no copywriter, the sales team are now writing their own ads



  • no program director for NEWFM



  • no sales manager for either station



  • no qualified technicians



  • and no real General Manager since May 2004. The pay and accounts lady was later given the "title" of GM to meet licensing requirements.

Fox 101.9's Jo Stanley joins Sunday Herald Sun!

Fox 101.9 breakfast radio co-host Jo Stanley has joined Melbourne's Sunday Herald Sun as a regular columnist. Her column is one of two new columns in the new Focus section of the paper, with Eddie McGuire also joining.

Austereo's Triple M to call Grand Prix

Keeping with their heavier emphasis on sport Austereo's Triple M Network will broadcast coverage of this years Formula One Grand Prix live from Melbourne's Albert Park. Regular Triple M Football caller Brian 'BT' Taylor is over the moon with the chance to call the big race live on radio.

Drought Not Out National Winner

Culgoa Community Sports Club at Brewarrina in far west NSW has taken out the national prize for ABC Rural and ABC Grandstand's Drought Not Out Competition.


It was a tough fight with several of the state finalists putting up convincing arguments as to why they deserved the $50 thousand national prize, but it was Culgoa's community spirit that stood out. The full article is available here
