Herald Sun columnist Andrew Bolt has joined the new talk station that will soon replace Melbourne's easy listening 1377 3MP. Bolt will be heard daily on the new talk radio alternative to 3AW and promises some straight talking. Writing on his blog he said ''I’ll appear each weekday for a good long session with Steve Price, the Obama-cheering, Bush-bashing snowfield socialist. It’s the best opposition they could find, but I’m not losing sleep. In fact, it should be fun.''

After months of speculation it has been confirmed that Melbourne Easy Music radio station 3MP will relaunch with a talk format. A joint venture has been formed between Macquarie Radio Network (owners of 2GB & 2CH) and Pacific Star Network owners of 3MP and SEN.

Austereo will, for a limited time, launch a digital radio station called High Voltage dedicated to AC/DC who are about to kick off their Australian tour. Listeners will get to hear unlimited AC/DC songs including rarities, album tracks, archival audio and live recordings of their songs. High Voltage will air for four weeks until the end of AC/DC's national tour.

CRA release: The commercial radio industry has recorded the third consecutive month of growth in advertising revenue with a rise of nearly four per cent in January, according to figures released today by industry body, Commercial Radio Australia.
Figures for the month of January 2010 show growth of 3.69% in the five metropolitan markets to a total of $43.61 million, with the strongest growth in Brisbane of 7.2%, and growth in all markets except Adelaide.
