Disgusting segment delivers disgusting radio yet again

The 2Day FM breakfast program which is hosted by Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O has come underfire after this morning broadcasting a segment where a a 14-year-old girl was hooked up to a lie detector. When the girl was being asked about her sex life by her mother on whether the girl had had sexual intercourse and after then revealing that she was raped as a 12-year-old ,Sandilands said ''Right. Is that your only experience?” Listen to the segment here

For many years we have referred to it as Limbo Radio, how low can they go, and today they have stooped to the lowest level in the name of sleaze and social perversion. Austereo needs to take a stand in the name of morality in relation to this incident and the first step has to be the termination of Kyle Sandilands from the Today Network.

Korean digital radio delegation

Commercial Radio Australia is hosting a Korean radio industry delegation this week. The delegation included representatives from the Korean Digital Radio Committee, Electronics and Telecommunication Research Institute (ETRI), Korea Radio Promotion Association (RAPA), Buddism Broadcasting System (BBS), Telecommunication Technology Association (TTA), HYNDAI AUTONET Co Ltd and Namseoul University.

Proposed Tassie changes

The Australian Communications and Media Authority is proposing to make new FM frequencies available to 7EX and 7LA to improve service reception in the Launceston city area. The ACMA is also proposing to make an AM frequency available for a high power open narrowcasting service at Launceston.

Fairfax denies $5m annual pay bid for 2GB radio star

FAIRFAX Radio boss Graham Mott has admitted he has spoken to Ray Hadley, the morning shift host at Sydney's top-rating station 2GB -- but dismissed reports he had offered him $5million a year to defect to Fairfax's 2UE. There had been speculation Fairfax Radio could poach Hadley to revive the flagging fortunes of 2UE, where ratings have sunk to less than 6 per cent of the Sydney audience. But while he said 2UE was "below where we'd like it to be", Mr Mott denied he was willing to spend $5m to lure Hadley -- who regularly attracts more than 17 per cent of the audience -- to the struggling station in either the breakfast or morning shifts. 2UE to pay $360,000 for breaches of disclosure rules

ACMA release In the first civil penalty matter to be heard under the Broadcasting Services Act 1992 (the BSA), the Federal Court of Australia has ordered Radio 2UE Sydney Pty Ltd to pay penalties totalling $360,000 for breaching a condition of its broadcasting licence. The breaches arose out of 2UE’s broadcasts of the final two months of the John Laws Morning Show in late 2007.

In proceedings brought by the Australian Communications and Media Authority, 2UE admitted that on 13 occasions during October and November 2007 it breached the Commercial Radio Disclosure Standard. The Disclosure Standard requires licensees to disclose the existence of commercial sponsorship arrangements between presenters and sponsors.

A community radio station especially for the community – that’s how STA FM, on 91.1, Inverell’s newest local community radio station is thought of.
With a highly successful official opening held on July 4, the new radio station, which is run by a strong band of volunteers, is in full swing. “It went really well,” Maureen Hampell said.

FAIRFAX Media's Sydney AM talk station 2UE is under pressure in a declining advertising market with advanced plans to change its breakfast line-up and a number of sales staff leaving in recent months. Contract renewals and programming changes have come months early for 2UE and the troubled Austereo network Triple M, with serious ratings declines putting both networks under the microscope. The softening advertising market is believed to have had a particularly harsh impact on 2UE. Melbourne's Christian radio station 89.9 Light FM has made a few changes to their on air team. Steve Mac is no longer presenting Lunchbox Requests, Leroy Brown who used to co-host The Buzz replaces him while Kel McWilliam who was the host of their night show "Melbourne's Night Alive" replaces Brown on their Drive show "The Buzz",
Jesse Smith who was heard on the weekend replaces McWilliam on "Melbourne's Night Alive".

2GB morning presenter Ray Hadley is willing to return to 2UE, the radio station that gave him the jump into the industry from being a taxi driver. Hadley has told 2UE management he is available to go head to head with 2GB's breakfast supremo Alan Jones in 2010 for a paltry $5 MILLION a year.

Pete and Myf to exit Triple M

Triple M breakfast duo Pete Helliar and Myf Warhurst have been axed after just 18 months on air. The pair who replaced 'The Cage' at the start of 2008 will be heard in breakfast until the end of July. It is believed Triple M are currently working towards a repacement program with whispers in some circles of Eddie McGuire and Shane Crawford on their wish list.

Tabcorp pulls plug on Sport 927

SENIOR executives at racing radio station Sport 927 were yesterday stunned by the decision of its major advertiser, Tabcorp, to stop its agents and outlets using the station's broadcasts.
TAB agents throughout Victoria yesterday confirmed that Tabcorp had given an edict to its agents not to use the broadcaster. Agents and pub tabs were being urged to use national TV network Sky Racing in agencies and hotels in preference to Sport 927. Full article The Age

Sydney community radio station FBi which launched a PR campaign to attempt to get magnate Richard Branson to donate $1million, has been saved after numerous donations contributed $350,000 to the struggling station. FBi believes it has enough money to cover its costs for the next two years.
