Regional Media company Prime Television has reported a 35 increase in profit to net $30.5 million. This was boosted to the tune of over $6.5 million after the sale of their millstone New Zealand operations and the first time contribution of their 6 radio stations.

Broadcasting, progamming along with transmission costs rose by just on $10 million over the year to $87.3 million it was reported. Quite a large slice of that surrounds the acquired radio stations.

The radio stations all in North Queensland were purchased in September 2005 from Macquarie Regional Radio Group. Chief executive Warwick Syphers said Prime would be waiting for the outcome of the proposed media ownership rules and would be interested in looking at purchasing further radio stations should the opportunity arise.

Prime have just signed an agreement with the Seven Network that will see them together for another 10 years.
