Australia's richest person is a former U.S school teacher living on a farm in Scone NSW.
Blair Parry-Okeden is the great granddaughter of Cox Enterprises founder James Cox, a former school teacher and newspaper reporter, who borrowed $26,000.00 to purchase the Dayton Evening (now Daily) News newspaper in 1898. Cox Enterprises entered radio in 1934, 75 years ago, when they established their first radio station WHIO in Miami Valley (OH).
Cox Enterprises now own 15 newspapers, 17 television stations and 86 radio stations scattered across the American markets.
Ms Parry-Okeden migrated to Australia when she married into a NSW farming family about 30 years ago although she has since divorced. After the death of her mother in 2007 she inherited a fortune worth more than $9 billion and her net wealth is currently around $7 billion. COX RADIO
