Veteran Newcastle radio man Keith Ashton passed away suddenly on Friday 21st June 2008. Keith who started in radio at 2KO in 1953 packed a lifetime into the industry and is often referred to as the father of Narrowcast Broadcasting in Australia.

poor old keith had a very rough trot with health over the last few years. i think it is rather sad that just over two weeks ago keith came out to let us know he was still alive after his death was reported on a radio forum.
as a frequent visitor to various forums i know that he was well known to many in and out of the industry. rip in peace old boy - June 22, 2008 at 9:01 AM

Yep Keith has left us and although I did not always agree with the way he posted stuff across the net I still think his heart was in the right place.
